Ham radios, also known as amateur radios or 10 meter
radios, transmit at 28-29Mhz. Ham radios look
and funciton much like CB radios. By far, the
biggest advantage of a ham over a CB radio is the
range. Ham radios are allowed to have a much
higher power output than CB radio, CB being capped
at 4 watts. It is popular for many users to
purchase a 10 meter radio and modify it to transmit
on CB frequencies to gain a greater power output on
those frequencies. As this is illegal, we do
not recommend it, nor can we make these
modifications for anyone. We would be more
than happy to sell you a ham radio, however! |
