Analog Versus Digital

Please note that there are now both analog scanners and digital scanners. Many cities are moving from analog communications to digital communications so it is important for you to find out which type of scanner you will need to get the information that you want to hear.  This is very important!  If they have switched to digital, an analog scanner will not pick up those communications.  A digital scanner will pick up both analog and digital communications.  Contact your local non-emergency law enforcement or fire department to find out which one they use.
